Hot Roll No-Rise Dough
This recipe was graciously shared with me by a fellow missionary
just after we arrived in Africa. It has been a lifesaver!
Thanks, Nicole!
1T sugar
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup oil
2 cup sour milk, buttermilk, yogurt (to sour milk add 1T vinegar per cup
and let sit for
a few minutes)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. soda
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
5+ cups flour (I always use around 7 cups)
Dissolve yeast in water with 1T sugar. Add remaining ingredients.
Mix and knead well.
Will keep in fridge for about a week (makes a lot, so is handy to
have in the fridge). No
need to let rise. Bake at 425' for 10 minutes.
Bread sticks: brush with egg whites bake at 400'
Donut holes - fry in hot oil and sprinkle with sugar
Cinnamon rolls - roll out into rectangle, pour on melted butter, sugar,
cinnamon, and
nutmeg. Roll long then roll starting with long side.
Slice and place on
greased pan. Bake at 400'. Icing: confectioners sugar, vanilla,
milk added
a tablespoon at a time.
Pizza dough - roll out as desired and either bake first or cover with toppings
and then
bake - will rise considerably in oven so for thin pizza roll very thin.
Great
with Easy Tasty Pizza Sauce!
This makes quite a bit of dough, but is a great recipe for those of us
who don't like to
stand around and knead dough!
